The School Board and I are inviting you to a special event this February 21st at 6:30.
The District is taking a big leap forward by looking at where we would like to be as a School District in the coming years. The result of this process will be a Strategic Plan. The idea is to get the thoughts and constructive opinions of everyone in the District who would like to share them with us. This includes parents and students of course, as well as community members and business owners and anyone else who has a stake in the future of our District. This is a positive process and meant to create a big picture and detailed plan that we can all be proud of.
We have enlisted the support of the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) in this process. I’ve worked with them before and they do a great job of facilitating along the way. But, it’s all about you! This process is all about getting your thoughts about where you think the District should be in 5-10 years and beyond. Every School District is unique – what kind of a District do we want ours to be? What types of curriculum do you feel we should provide? What should we emphasize on to separate us from the rest? … and so on. We will then discuss what specific Goals we have for the District, and when we are done with this process, we will have developed a Strategic Plan, based on what we conclude is our Mission, and our Beliefs and Values.
Our work on this Strategic Plan will guide School District decisions for many years. This is a big deal! The School Board members and I hope you can be a part of this initial portion of the process by coming to what we call a “Listening Session” at the School Library, Wednesday, February 21st at 6:30 PM where you can give us your thoughts. If you have questions, do not hesitate to call me at the school (218-897-5275 x153)
